- Crotons or Codiaeum variegatum is a subtropical, evergreen shrub, naturally occurring in Indonesia, southern Asia, and Eastern Pacific Islands.
- A part of the Euphorbiaceae family, Croton plants are known for their showy, shiny bright leaves.
- The colorful foliage of this plant has developed a dedicated following among gardening enthusiasts.
- The common names are Croton Gold Dust and Sun-Spot Croton.
SOIL REQUIREMENT
- Well-drained, organically rich, and slightly acidic soil is necessary.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT
- For best results, use a general houseplant fertilizer once in early spring, once in early summer, and again in mid-summer.
- Weekly fertilization with a balanced formula fertilizer is sufficient.

LIGHT REQUIREMENT
- Your Gold Dust Croton will do best in a bright spot, as it needs lots of light (if possible 4-6 hrs. Per day) to produce the golden speckles.
- If your croton does not get enough light, you might find the plant grows tall and lanky with spare leaves lacking the rich, dark hues.
WATER REQUIREMENT
- During the growing season, watering should be regular to keep the soil moist.
- Avoid overwatering as the plant does not respond well to standing water.
