GENERAL INFORMATION
- Passiflora edulis or passion fruit is a vine species of passion flower native to southern Brazil through Paraguay and northern Argentina.
- It is cultivated commercially in tropical and subtropical areas for its sweet, seedy fruit, commonly called passion fruit.
SOIL REQUIREMENT
- Passion fruit vines grow on many soil types but light to heavy sandy loams with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5 is the most suitable.
- Excellent drainage is absolutely necessary.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT
- A fertilizer high in nitrogen promotes plenty of passionfruit leaf growth at the expense of fruit and flowers.
- Fertilize with compost, citrus foods, chicken manure, or well-rotted cow manure.

LIGHT REQUIREMENT
- Plant vines in full sun except in very hot areas, where partial shade is preferable.
WATER REQUIREMENT
- Passionfruit has a high water requirement when fruits are approaching maturity.
- If the soil is dry, fruits may shrivel and fall prematurely, so water frequently for short periods during dry times.
