GENERAL INFORMATION
- Mandevilla is a genus of tropical and subtropical flowering vines belonging to the family Apocynaceae.
- It was first described as a genus in 1840. A common name is Rocktrumpet.
- Mandevilla species are native to the Southwestern United States, Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and South America.
- The Mandevilla plant has become a common patio plant, and rightfully so.
SOIL REQUIREMENT
- It needs sandy, well-draining soil with plenty of organic material mixed in.
- A good soil mix includes two parts peat moss or potting soil to one part builder's sand.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT
- Fertilize once in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer.
LIGHT REQUIREMENT
- Find a spot with at least six hours of sun each day, although, in hot climates, a little afternoon shade is helpful.
WATER REQUIREMENT
- It prefers consistently moist soil while it's actively growing.
- In warm climates, it may require water three times per week during spring, summer and fall.
