GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Astrophytum myriostigma is a species of cactus native to the highlands of northeastern and central Mexico.
  • Synonyms include Echinocactus myriostigma, Astrophytum prismaticum, A. columnare, A. tulense, and A. nuda.
  • This columnular cacti starts off as a small, rounded plant, and grows taller with 5 to 10 ribs as it matures.
  • It produces sweet-smelling yellow flowers after it reaches maturity.

SOIL REQUIREMENT

  • Native to rocky terrain, it grows best in cactus soil or a mixture of 25% coarse sand, 25% pumice, and 50% potting soil.
  • Well-draining soil.
