GENERAL INFORMATION
- Akihime strawberries are a variety bred in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
- They are known for their large size.
- Akihime strawberries have a strong sweetness and low acidity, resulting in a mellow, delicious flavor.
- When fully ripe, they turn bright red near the stem.
SOIL REQUIREMENT
- Compost is another key to growing a strawberry patch that produces big, sweet berries.
- Make sure that the soil has been fully amended with good compost/composted manure and a good drainage pot.

FEEDING/FERTILIZER REQUIREMENT
- Use a commercial 10-10-10 food or, if you are growing organically, any of a number of organic fertilizers will do.
- Some farms use organic fertilizers like rice husks and rice bran, and rely on bees for pollination.

- Water adequately, about one inch per week.
