GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Muscari is a genus of perennial bulbous plants native to Eurasia that produce spikes of dense, most commonly blue, urn-shaped flowers resembling bunches of grapes in the spring.
  • The common name for the genus is grape hyacinth, but they should not be confused with hyacinths.

SOIL REQUIREMENT

  • It requires neutral pH and well-draining soil.
  • The best soil is a sandy loam.
  • For clay soil, break up the clay about a foot deeper than the planting depth of your bulbs and amend the bed with well-aged neutral-pH compost.

LIGHT REQUIREMENT

  • Full sun to almost full shade.

WATER REQUIREMENT

  • It requires a lot of water when they grow in direct sunlight.
  • However, make sure to avoid waterlogging at all costs.
  • If the water stays in the soil, the flower bulb will rot and die, and the flower will perish.
