GENERAL INFORMATION
- The Fatsia Japonica, also called the Glossy-Leaf Paper Plant or Japanese Aralia boasts large, deeply lobed, leathery leaves that can measure a full foot across.
- There are typically eight lobes on each leaf, which explains the origin of its name: the word fatsi sounds similar to the Japanese word for eight.
- These leaves are held on stiff branches, and the plant grows low to the ground naturally.
- Under the right circumstances, mature specimens will produce groups of small white flowers, followed by seeds that can be used for propagation.
- To keep your plant attractive over the long term, however, make sure to trim it at the beginning of each growing season to encourage bushiness.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut stems 45 degrees diagonally with a sharp knife or a pair of scissors.
- Change water every two days.
- Remove any fallen leaves on the water surface.
- Keep leaves out of direct sunlight and avoid placing them in a room with high humidity.
- If flowers start to droop, check if there is too much or too little water.
- Re-cut the stem if the end is soggy.
