Aussie plants native to the Australian continent grow in dry regions with distinct rainy and dry seasons. Furthermore, because they grow in nutrient-poor acidic soil low in phosphoric acid (phosphate), they do not require large amounts of fertilizer components.
In particular, varieties with cluster roots require soil with low fertilizer content such as phosphoric acid to prevent root damage.
